Midwest travelers are familiar with Clay Township, a popular pit stop for those journeying north and south along historic USR 23 (slated to become Interstate 73). The easy access to good lodging and restaurants and the close proximity to Portsmouth’s downtown business district make it convenient both for travelers and those whose destination is Scioto County. In the summer months thousands of beach-bound vacationers on their way to such destinations as Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head Island are glad to reach Rosemount in Clay Township where they can rest for a while, grabbing a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants, replenishing supplies at the Village Market for food and shopping, or even finding a comfortable bed for the night at one of three modern motels, Holiday Inn Express, Super 8, and Ameristay.

Those traveling through most often use Rosemount Rd. in order to bypass busy city traffic. Rosemount Rd. passes through two of Clay Townships quaint residential neigborhoods--Rosemount in the west and Eden Park in the East-passing over the steep and picturesque Rosemount Hill, where at the top a scenic overlook park has recently been constructed. Going north on SR 139 from Eden Park, you will also pass through TwinValley and Rubyville.

Rosemount is where the region shops for autos. The Glockner Family of Dealerships calls Rosemount home. There is historic Glockner Chevrolet, Glockner Honda and Toyota, Quality Car & Truck leasing, and Rosemount Financial Services. For the classic car enthusiast there is Classic Heat.

The Clay School System boasts small student/teacher ratios and honors academics. Coca-Cola Bottling Company, United Parcel Service and the Shawnee Animal Clinic also call Rosemount Home. Because of the thick forests and scenic hills of Clay Township, many residents have carved woodland trails for recreational purposes. Four-wheeling and horse back-riding are popular past-times in Clay Township.
